Blood, sweat and screens...
Let me just say, Amy and I are so incredibly lucky to have such awesome, generous, creative and gifted friends. A few days ago marked the completion of a long and difficult endeavor taken on by our friends Varick Rosete and Sean Tucker. You see, a while back, Amy and I were tossing around ideas for our wedding invitations. We knew we wanted something “different”, but we just didn’t know what. Then, Amy, being the beautiful genius that she is, came up with an idea to print the invitations on thin pieces of wood. YES! But wait.. how do we do that? Being two of the most talented and respected graphic designers in Jacksonville, that’s where V and Sean came in. We first talked to V about designing our invites, which he said he was more than happy to do. Then V talked Sean about the possibilites and logistics of screenprinting on wood. Although he’d never done it before, he was stoked to give it a whirl. So Amy and I found the wood we wanted and thought would work well, cut it into the size we wanted and got it over to Sean for a test run, just to see how the printing would take to the wood. Much to everyone’s excitement, IT WORKED! The wood held on to detail as well as any paper. So then V was off to the races designing the invites. And man… what an amazing job he did. If you’re wondering what talent is boys and girls.. see below and take notes. Amy and I were blown away by the designs he came up with. It was really hard to choose just one out of the couple he sent to us to review, but we did. And with that, it was on like donkey kong. V and Sean, with a little help from Nille, got to work like madmen and spent several sleepless nights trying to make these things a reality for us. They fought off fatigue, uncooperative emulsion, damaged screens, imperfections in the wood and god knows what else. I have never known anyone to work so hard and enthusiastically for their friends and for the sake of creating art. And that’s who they are and that’s exactly what they did. They created beautiful pieces of amazing art that Amy and I are ecstatic about sending to our closest friends and family. A huge ‘thank you’ goes out to Sean, Varick and Jenille. I can’t say it enough, but Amy and I owe you guys so much for making a reality what was only a wild idea for us and for helping us make our big day that much more special. These bad boys are set to go out Monday. See you at the wedding…
xoxo
